Adult Ministries at Swift Creek Presbyterian

Our Adult Ministries come in all shapes, sizes, and formats. They can vary from large classes of 30 or more to a small personal class of 6-8 people. They can include Sunday School, Wednesday Night Live, or be held around your coffee table at home. Whatever form adult ministry takes, our goal is to equip people to pursue spiritual growth and a closer walk with God.

Women's Ministry

Many Events Planned

The planning board of the new revitalized Women's
Ministries has some exciting news to share. We have
planned the coming events for the next year and would
like you to mark your calendar for any and all of the
events NOW so that you won't miss the opportunity to
participate.

On Tuesday, September 9, come to church at 7:00 pm. to hear Dr. Louise Bagwell Robinson speak on"Communicating with Your Child." Louise is the
Head of School at Millwood School and has a passion
for children and education. She will cover ages from
elementary age through the teens. This is geared to all
women who have children. Grandmas are invited, too!
There will be a special guest speaker for the Sunday
School Fall Encouragement Series. Vivian Hall will
speak on a number of issues as she will be with us for
several weeks toward the series’ end in late fall. One
topic will be hospitality. Vivian is an expert and has
written a book, "Be My Guest." She also will speak on
autism. Come join us for Sunday School. Look in the
bulletin for the exact dates.

Game Night is scheduled for Friday, February 13.
This is going to be a fun night planned for all women.
We will play a variety of games, but most importantly,
we will share fellowship and fun. Come and get to
know someone that you only see from a distance in
church, or reconnect with someone you've known for
years. Show up at church at 7:00 p.m. for all the fun.

On Tuesday, February 17, 2009, our own Dr. Kim
Hilton will host a program entitled "Preparing your
Child for Kindergarten." This program will be held at
church starting at 7 p.m. This is geared to all parents
of young children to give you helpful information in
deciding whether your child is ready for kindergarten.
We are still working on the prospect of organizing
another Women's Retreat. The Women’s Ministry is looking for a dynamic speaker to inspire us all and
show us how to be Godly women in 2009.

Lastly, we will put on a fashion show on Saturday,
May 16, 2009
. It will be a mother/daughter tea and
we will be entertained by a fashion show, detailing
the history of the times for many brides of this
church. We will hopefully have willing brides from the
1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's bring their
wedding gowns out from the moth balls and let some of our younger women and youth wear them down the aisle again to look at our own history as well as fashion history. Look for more information in the future.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THESE EVENTS.
YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THEM!

If you would like to help work on any of these events, please contact Carol Lenti, Laura Coleman, Katrina Dunlap, Judy Chidley, Charlene McCutchen, Kim Hilton or Sue Cummings. See how the Lord can work wonders in us!

Men's Ministry

Guy's Getaway

Hey Guys, every now and then it's good to get away with just the guys, right? It has a way of restoring some perspective in our lives (no offense to our wives and families). I want to invite you to a tremendous opportunity this fall - save the date, or better yet, sign up now. It will be a retreat within a retreat at Rockbridge just west of Lexington, VA from October 10-12. There will be about 350 men there, but we can all stay together in one dorm. The facilities are outstanding, the pace can be either active or relaxed depending on your personal preference, and this year's speaker, Dale Bruner, is one of the finest Bible teachers I know. The Swift Creek guys that went last year absolutely loved it. Brochures are in the Commons at the information center.  We hope that you will come with us.  Cost is $130 if you register before September 1st.

Men's Breakfast

Join us for the men's breakfast, a monthly time of fellowship on Saturday mornings – enjoy a huge breakfast followed by an inspiring speaker. Periodic men's retreats are held in addition to a weekly bible study. Check out our Small Group offerings by selecting this link.

Family Ties

This energetic group plans activities for parents and their young children. We hold social events and do mission projects as families together. Periodic date nights are held with babysitting provided. Select here for more information on Family Ties and our Children's Ministry.

Summer Nights Program

Our Summer Nights Program is held on Wednesday evenings in July. This fun filled time of fellowship is designed for the whole church family. Join us for a picnic supper followed by skits, singing and a brief devotional. More information will be available when summer approaches.

Wednesday Night Live

Wednesday Night Live is a dinner and class opportunity traditionally held in the fall. Classes are held for all ages. More information will be available when Wednesday Night Live planning gets underway.

Volunteer Opportunities

There's more to spiritual growth than participating in fellowship and study. Each of us longs to make a difference somewhere. The Swift Creek Lay Ministry team is here to help you find your niche in service. Please visit the volunteer ministries link for more information.

Adult Sunday School Classes

Adult Sunday School classes are on hiatus until this fall. Select here for our plans for Sunday School this fall.
