Swift Creek Presbyterian has a genuine heart for missions. We provide financial support to ministries in order that they may help meet the needs of those they serve. Many of our members also actively volunteer for these ministries. Below is a list of local missions we support:
Blue Sky Fund – This is a Richmond based non-profit organization that provides low income children with various educational programs including academic enrichment and personal development opportunities. Their mission is to provide transformation experiences for urban youth through outdoor education. Website: www.blueskyfund.org
CCTC (Christian Counseling & Training Center) – The Christian Counseling & Training Center is a Christian ministry established in 1981 to train Biblical counselors and teachers to assist local churches and to help meet related needs.
CCHASM (Chesterfield , Colonial Heights , Alliance for Social Ministry) – In concert with the Chesterfield & Colonial Heights Department of Social Services, this ministry addresses the unmet emergency needs of residents of our community. CCHASM’s mission is that of providing a hand up and not just a hand out. CCHASM’s unique intake process provides residents not only emergency food and/or financial assistance, but empowering resources to assist them in moving their families back to financial independence.
CHAT (Church Hill Activities & Tutoring) – This is a faith based community of Church Hill neighbors who share a passionate belief in the power of fellowship to transform communities. We invest in the lives of the city’s at risk children by establishing strong connections through one on one tutoring, mentoring, enrichment activities and immersion in a supportive and nurturing community. Crossover Ministry – Providing health care, promoting wellness and connecting the talents and resources of the community with those in need in the name of Jesus Christ.
East End Fellowship Church – This is a multi-ethnic, economically diverse community in the East End of Richmond, seeking God’s joy and justice for our neighborhoods out of love for Christ. Our mission is to worship together as one before the Father, walk together as one with Jesus Christ, and to work together as one in the Spirit, all for the glory of Jesus Christ and for the joy and justice of our neighborhoods. Elijah House – Provides a quality Christian Education in a protected environment for the children of the inner city.
Friends Feeding Friends – Inspired by Friends of the Homeless, our in-house ministry prepares lunches in our church kitchen. Lunches are prepared the Sunday before the 3rd Monday of the month, and then taken into Richmond for distribution by Friends of the Homeless.
Meals On Wheels – Provides balanced, nutritious and appealing meals to seniors, people with disabilities and disadvantaged populations. Swift Creek has a dedicated group of people delivering meals monthly.
Navigators – The Navigators is dedicated to helping people navigate spiritually, to know Christ and to make Him known as they look to Him and His Word to chart their lives.
Needles Eye Ministries – Connecting the men and women of Richmond ‘s workplace to a life changing expression of real faith.
Richmond Center for Christian Study – The mission of the center is to bring gospel transformation to individuals and communities at the University of Richmond and throughout the surrounding Greater Richmond area by fostering serious consideration and discussion of a biblical worldview and its bearing on every area of life and culture. Pregnancy Resource Center – Providing compassionate care and practical assistance to women who are unprepared for pregnancy.
Prison Fellowship Ministry – An intentional approach of equipping prisoners to demonstrate Christ-like thinking, behavior and relationships. SCPC also participates annually in the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Project – providing gifts to children of incarcerated parents.
Presbyterian Homes and Family Services – Providing residency to mentally challenged adults and to develop each resident to his/her maximum potential and independence.
Set Free Ministry – Set Free offers hope and healing through the Lord Jesus Christ to individuals overcoming sexual and relational brokenness. Also offering education and support to friends, family members and churches.
Urban Hope – This is a community development corporation committed to the social, economic and spiritual health of Metro Richmond. The primary focus of Urban Hope is to partner with families who seek affordable rental housing and/or home ownership. Practical, emotional, and spiritual support is provided through Family Sponsors, who play an integral role in the Urban Hope model. By supporting families through affordable rental housing and the home ownership process, communities of distress are transformed into environments where families can thrive. Young Life of Chesterfield (local chapter) – Young Life brings the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents with an approach that is respectful of who kids are and hopeful about who they can be.
