About Swift Creek
It began with just two small Bible studies as the Presbytery of the James planted a new church in the Brandermill/Woodlake area of Chesterfield County. Commissioned in September 1991, we began meeting in a movie theater. The Genito Forest Cinema was our home for seven years as we grew, added a choir, and baptized our first child using a popcorn bowl. We purchased 15 acres (with a pond) on Woolridge Road and opened the church in March 1997.
Today, we offer multiple Bible studies, Sunday School for all ages, Vacation Bible School, and Youth Group, to name a few things. We reach out to others through numerous mission trips to places such as Mexico, Romania, France, Ireland, New Orleans, West Virginia, inner-city Philadelphia and right here in Richmond.
Our beautiful grounds and building are open every year for community events such as our Children’s Easter Celebration, RockFISH for youth, and the Living Nativity. Golf Tournaments, church-wide picnics, retreats and family fellowship are all part of the many ways we build relationships with each other and with God.
As we envision the future, we remain ever faithful in our mission to fulfill the two great commandments: to love God with our whole being and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Swift Creek continues to be a place where we reach beyond our walls; a place where we share our Passion for Christ and Compassion for People.
